CloudFest Hackathon Sponsorship

We are proud to announce that group.one and its sister brands one.com and wp.one are sponsoring the CloudFest Hacktahon, held in Rust, Germany on March 16-18th.

The CloudFest Hackathon is a 2-day event that gathers hundreds of web professionals to solve problems and make a lasting impact on the future of open source software.

Creating opportunities for open source contribution in general and WordPress contribution in particular is at the heart of our mission, why it is with immense pride that we support with a gold level sponsorship covering the tickets, room and board for 6 hackathon participants from the open source community. Besides sponsoring, we are sending our own development team to hack the WordPress projects and having our team member and Sr. Product Owner Simon Kraft as part of the hackathon jury.

Furthermore, one.com and wp.one are sponsors of the hackathon awards in the following categories:

Social Media Master Award, rewarding the team that creates the most buzz on social media during the hackathon, sponsored by one.com

Future of the Web Award, awarded to the team whose innovative project forecasts the future of the web through technological foresight and explores new problems and new approaches to solving them, sponsored by wp.one

The awards category sponsorship supports the Groundbreaker Talents initiative  – a project that transforms lives by creating equal opportunity and bridging the skills gap in the IT industry. The initiative empowers women from financially disadvantaged conditions in Uganda to participate in a one year software engineering bootcamp. With their living expenses covered, they can fully immerse themselves in the training program and take their first steps toward becoming sought after IT professionals and subsequently financially support their families and local communities. We could not be more grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important cause and are very excited to meet the Groundbreaker Talents’ alumna Vanessa Nalugya at the event.
