We're the company behind the domain name one.com, and we give small businesses and entrepreneurs one place for their domain, website and email. We started in Denmark in 2002. Today we're part of group.one, and our headquarters is in Malmö, Sweden. The facts below tell you where we come from, how we grew, who owns us and what you can count on as a customer.

How we started

We began as a Danish startup

Jacob Jensen and Thomas Frederiksen founded our company in Denmark in 2002, as a small web hosting startup. From the start, we've offered web hosting and domain registration that make it easy for anyone to build a website and keep it online.

We used to be called b-one.net

Jacob and Thomas called their startup b-one.net. In 2006, we bought the domain name one.com and changed our name to match, and we've kept it ever since. The logo we chose then stayed with us until 2019.

We still host a domain from our second-ever order

Our first customers placed their orders on 9 July 2002. They bought an easy all-in-one web hosting package. After 20 years, the domain name from our second-ever order is still with us.

Our English-speaking support began in Dubai

In May 2005, our headquarters moved to Dubai. The move started our English-speaking support team, which gave customers chat support in English around the clock. After that, we gradually opened chat support for customers across Europe, from Denmark and Sweden to France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

How we grew

A million web hosting subscriptions by 2011

In 2011, we reached 1 million. You can still host your website with us, and today's plans and prices show what each plan includes.

Every one of our hosting plans includes email hosting with webmail. The number of mailboxes depends on the plan you choose.

Our classic Website Builder arrived in 2012

In April 2012, we launched our classic Website Builder, which made it much easier for you to build your own website. The same year, we also started monitoring our systems and uptime 24/7.

WordPress got easier to install in 2017

Millions of sites across the web run on WordPress. In 2017, we made it more straightforward for you to install it with us. Today, our Hosting for WordPress comes with an automated migration tool that moves an existing WordPress site to us.

We had a million customers by 2018

In 2018, we reached 1.5 million active web hosting subscriptions, held by 1 million customers. Some of them had more than one subscription, which is why the two numbers differ.

We have our own app

In 2021, we launched our Companion app. You can download it from Google Play and the Apple App Store. With the app, you can use two-factor authentication (2FA) when you log in to your control panel. You can also view your website analytics and chat with our support team there.

We are one of India's top 100 companies to work for

We opened our office in India in 2011. In 2022, we were recognised as one of India's top 100 companies to work for. That matters to us, because the well-being of our people is high on our list.

Who we are today

Where is one.com based?

We're based in Malmö, Sweden, where our headquarters has been since 2019. We were founded in Denmark, and we've been in our current office in Copenhagen since 2011. The year we moved to Malmö, we also introduced the logo with the green dot you see today.

Who owns one.com?

group.one owns us. It's a privately owned European group of digital service companies, and we've been part of it since 2020. You can read more about the group and our story on our About us page.

Our sister brands help businesses across Europe

Within group.one, we work closely with local sister brands such as checkdomain, dogado, metanet, herold, hostnet, Zoner, uniweb, Webglobe and veebimajutus. Together with the group's product brands, they help more than 2 million businesses succeed online.

A sister company runs its own domain extension

A top-level domain (TLD), or domain extension, is the part at the end of a web address, like .com or .uk. Since 2014, one of our sister companies has run the .one top-level domain. In October 2026, it was among the 40 most popular top-level domains worldwide. You can also register a .one domain with us.

Our offices stretch from Norway to India

Besides our headquarters in Malmö, we have offices in Denmark, France, Norway, the Netherlands, the UAE, India and the Philippines.

We are not the same company as Onecom

If you're in the UK, you may know the name Onecom. It's a separate UK business telecoms provider, and it has no connection with us.

What you can count on

We are an ICANN-accredited registrar

ICANN accredits registrars, the companies that register domain names for you. An accredited registrar has direct access to the registries of generic top-level domains such as .com. We're one of them. So when you register your domain with us under a generic ending such as .com, we register it directly with the registry.

Your data stays in the EU

We're a European company, and we store all our customer data within the EU.

Most of our group's data centres run on renewable energy

In 2026, 96% of group.one's data centres are powered by renewable energy. We keep investing in our infrastructure to reduce the environmental impact of your hosting.

Our support team is there 24/7

Through our help centre at help.one.com, you can get in touch with our support team by chat or email, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

If you have an idea you'd like to put online, build your website with us. Our support team is there to help whenever you need a hand.
