How do I stop spam emails?

Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to eliminate spam entirely, but there are things you can do to reduce it.
Below, we have listed some tips and suggestions, that can help you win the fight against spam.

Don't share your email address
Use a disposable email on the internet
Enable Antivirus from the control panel
Block a sender or create filters in Webmail

Don't share your email address

If spammers don't know your address exists, they cannot use it. So only share your address with people and organizations that you know and trust. Never publish it on the internet, and don't use it to sign up for services, newsletters or social media.

If you need to publish your address, for example on your own website, it's a good idea to disguise it. You do this by replacing symbols with letters, like this: "support AT one DOT com". People can interpret the address, but email crawlers, won't recognize it.

Another way to disguise your email, is by making an image of your email address, and publishing this on your site.

Use a disposable email on the internet

There will be situations where you simply need to enter an email address, for example to sign up for a newsletter or service. In those situations, it's a good idea to use a disposable email address, and not your primary email.

You can create an alias under Mail Administration in the control panel and forward all mails to your primary address. You can then set up a filter in Webmail, to move all emails that are addressed to your alias, to a specific folder.

If you start receiving too much spam, you can simply delete the alias. At One.com you can create as many email accounts and aliases as you like, so you will never run out.

How do I create an email alias?

Enable Antivirus from the control panel

You can enable antivirus for your email address from the control panel. Our filters will then move all suspicious emails to the spam folder.

It can happen that a legitimate email is mistakingly marked as spam, so make sure to regularly check your spam folder for any emails that are not supposed to be there.

Enable spam and virus filter for your email

Block a sender or create filters in Webmail

If spam has infiltrated your inbox, instead of just deleting it, you can block senders or create filters to make sure it doesn't end up in your inbox again. If you block a sender, all emails sent from this address will go directly to your spam folder.

You can also block emails from a whole domain, and not only a specific address. You do this by creating a filter, where you move mails from a domain to your spam folder.

Tip: Never reply to a spam message and never try to unsubscribe. Doing this would let the spammer know that the email address is active, and will only result in more spam.
