How do I make a backup of my database?

Step 1 - Open your database in phpMyAdmin
Step 2 - Click Databases in the top-menu
Step 3 - Click the name of the database you want to export
Step 4 - Click Export
Step 5 - Select Custom - display all possible options
Step 6 - Select the tables you want to export
Step 7 - Scroll down to Format-specific options
Step 8 - Scroll down and click Go

If your website is using a database it is important to keep a backup. Follow this guide to export your database and save a copy of it on your computer.

Step 1 - Open your database in phpMyAdmin

Step 2 - Click Databases in the top-menu

Step 3 - Click the name of the database you want to export

Step 5 - Select Custom - display all possible options

Step 6 - Select the tables you want to export

By default all tables are selected. We recommend you to keep this.

Step 7 - Scroll down to Format-specific options

Under Object creation options check the box for Add DROP TABLE / VIEW / PROCEDURE / FUNCTION / EVENT statement.

Step 8 - Scroll down and click Go

The exported tables are now saved to a file, in this example called one_example_com.sql. You can import this to your database when needed.
