When setting up a mail account in, for example Outlook, you should set the user name, password, IMAP server and SMTP server.

- The user name and account name is the same as the complete e-mail address you set up in the control panel.
- The password is the password you selected for the mail account, when you set it up in the control panel.
- The IMAP server is specified in the code letter.
- For the SMTP server, see 'Can I use your SMTP server?' in FAQ or use your Internet provider's.

We have produced a guide which shows how your Outlook should be set up. Click here to view the guide

Can I use your SMTP server?

If your provider's mail server is slow or you cannot send mail via this server, you can send e-mails via our outgoing (SMTP) mail server.

To do this, log onto our SMTP server. You do not need to log onto our SMTP server if you use your provider's server. This is so that the mail server cannot be misused to send SPAM (unwanted advertisement mail). To log onto our SMTP server, your mail program should be set up so that it uses SMTP authentication.

In Outlook Express, this is set up by marking the setting 'my server requires authentication'.

In the field SMTP server, you should write: send.one.com

My provider has closed (smtp) port 25. Can I still send via you?

Yes. You can use port 2525 instead. We have produced a guide for Outlook on this. Click here to view the guide

Can I send mails from my web site?

Yes it is possible to send e-mails from your web page via a script. You should use our internal smtp server address, which is: mailout.one.com.

How do I configure the spam filter?

Our spam filter uses a penalty point system. If you turn on the spam filter, all your mails will be given points depending on how closely their appearance matches that of spam mail. Mails given many points are probably spam mail.

If an e-mail is given more points than the warning level, the message [SPAM WARNING] is added to the subject field. If an e-mail is given more points than the kill level, the mail is deleted.

We recommend that the following spam filter values are used:
Warning level 6
Kill level 8

If the warning and kill levels are given identical values or if the kill level is set below the warning level, no warnings will be issued because e-mails will just be deleted.

To set up the filter on your mail account, log onto the control panel for each mail account. This is accessed via www.one.com.

Filter administration requires a mail account, it is important that a mail account has been set up in the control panel. Refer also to How do I set up a mail account?' in our FAQ.

We have produced a guide which shows how to configure the filter. Click here to view the guide

Set up your e-mail addresses in the control panel with accompanying passwords. These e-mail addresses and passwords are the ones that are used to log onto webmail.

What is IMAP and POP3?

IMAP and POP3 are internet standard protocols for e-mail, allowing your e-mail program to access e-mail accounts on your web space.

IMAP allows multiple clients to access the same mailbox, while keeping the e-mail messages available on the server for later access via webmail.

POP3 downloads the messages, while removing the messages from the server. The e-mails are then no longer accessible via webmail or a mail program.

We recommend that you use IMAP when setting up your e-mail program.

What size e-mails can I send and recieve?
