What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used when transferring files/web pages to the web space. The files are transferred using an FTP client.Where can I obtain a FTP client?
There are many FTP clients, of which many are free and are available on the internet. Internet Explorer can also be used as an FTP client. We do not provide support in the use of these different programs. Please refer to the programs' help/documentation for assistance in getting started.How do I log on using FTP?
Your FTP client will ask for a host (host name), user name and password. Host, user name and password are given in the code letter which you should have received.Where should I place my files?
There should be an index file (for example index.html) in the root. The index file is the file which is displayed when you enter your domain address in a web browser. The root is the directory which you first come to when using an FTP client.What should the directories be used for?
The directories _private; images are directories which you can use for whatever you want.The directories _vti_bin; _vti_cnf; _vti_log; _vti_pvt; _vti_txt; _vti_images all have MS FrontPage Server Extensions. If you do not use FrontPage, then you should disregard them (but don't delete them).
