Searches related to the upcoming school semester increase With summer vacation coming to an end in a few weeks, web searches regarding “back to school” have peaked.

Various queries are now consistently being performed on Google and other search engines with popular phrases such as “back to school supplies”, “back to school sales” and “back to school bargains”. The previous two years, the yearly peak has occurred in August, and the same is expected this year.

Among the links that appear when conducting shopping-related searches, the companies that pay to rank high on the list achieve the highest number of clicks. Among those who search for “back to school supplies”, 63 percent follow a link from a paying company. As many as 70 percent of those who search for “back to school shopping list” follow a link to an ecommerce company of the same kind.

This seasonal trend implies search engine marketing targeted at pupils and students is especially profitable in July and August.
