Apple founder slams Flash
Steve Jobs, the chief executive and head impresario of Apple, recently repeated to the Wall Street Journal his earlier claims that Flash was "insecure" and a "CPU hog" in his explanation why the popular online content delivery framework was not present on his iPhone and iPad devices. The Financial Times reports that Flash's "omission from the iPad, which is optimised for web browsing, [is] an enormous handicap", and says that other pro-Adobe advocates have said that Jobs' anti-Flash stance will hurt the iPad's chances of becoming a commercial success.
Flash is more or less ubiquitous on websites today, and the Financial Times reported that more than 98 percent of PCs are Flash-capable. While Jobs insists that Flash is an out-of-date technology that will quickly be superseded by more modern extensions like H.264 and HTML5, Adobe's product shows no signs of going anywhere.
Additionally, reports tech blog Valleywag, Jobs took exception to a Tweet sent during his demonstration of the iPad to Wall Street Journal staff. While Journal online executive editor Alan Murray did not address the incident directly, he told Valleywag that "I will say that Apple's general paranoia about news coverage is truly extraordinary".
