Hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne launches website from prison
While many celebrities use their blogs or Twitter pages to communicate with their fans when they are off stage, now one is doing so from prison.Rapper Lil Wayne recently launched a personal website from prison to communicate with his followers as he serves one year in prison. The Grammy-winning artist was sentenced in March 2010 for keeping a loaded gun on his tour bus.
The website, called WeezyThanxYou, features a blogging section and an online store selling a shirt that says "Free Weezy," which is his nickname.
Lil Wayne, 27, says in his first blog post that his soul can't be confined to prison walls and that he will use the website to personally respond to letters from members of his fan base.
"During my prison stint, I want my fans to know I love you. I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you", writes Lil Wayne. "For real, this will be the best way we can communicate for the coming months. Each week I’ll answer as many questions as I possibly can. Keep sending the letters and I promise keep responding. No matter what they do to erase me, my love for you will always be permanent. Remember that. Take care. God bless".
Lil Wayne has also written for another website as a sports commentator. Lil Wayne has been a featured writer at ESPN's website since September 2008.
