Domain name suggests possible name for upcoming PlayStation 3 controller

Written: Jan 26, 2010 Category: Website - Domain
New PS3 controller could be called Arc Sony has purchased the domain name playstation3arc.com, adding more fuel to rumors that the consumer electronics giant's upcoming motion-sensing controller for the PlayStation 3 would be called the Arc.

A website at ps3arc.com is already live on the internet, displaying a picture of a wand-like device with a blue light on the end and the text - using an older version of Sony's own font - "The future of gaming - Are you ready?" However, Desire Athow of tech news site IT Pro Portal reports that the site "shows no sign of being owned by Sony whatsoever".

Tech pundits say that the device should be released sometime in the second half of 2010, and the device has also been rumored to be called Arc for some time now.

Competitor Nintendo was the first to the market for motion-sensing controllers, as the standard controller for the company's Wii console, which was released in November 2006. PlayStation 3's standard controllers incorporate a limited motion-sensing capability, but not the full-fledged utility of the Nintendo device.
